Update on
lunenoire
Sep. 13th, 2005 07:46 amSorry we didn't get around to posting this last night - we were having internet issues.
Anyway,
lunenoire came out of his surgery just fine. In fact, he looked better after this (more complicated, and requiring an overnight stay) surgery than after the first one. He can't talk for 2 weeks, and he's on a clear liquid diet for some time, although I'm never clear on that one. From what I understand, it's gonna take about 6 months for his taste buds to get back to normal. Start saving money now to take him out to dinner! :)
The main problem he's having is the pain from swallowing. Yesterday, he could barely eat the ice chips, jello, sherbet, and broth and such they gave him, because it was so painful for him to swallow. There are painkillers, of course, both local and systemic, but from personal experience, I think throat pain is THE hardest to get rid of.
But, other than that, and being stuck living with two people who don't read lips worth a damn, I think it'll be OK.
Thanks for all the well-wishes and energy and such!
Anyway,
