Color Help?

FYI, I'm so very very far behind on LJ that it'll probably go beyond LJ's skip limit for me to try to catch up - which I may or may not do tonight at work.

But this post isn't about that, anyway...

I've got some pending modeling gigs, and since I sadly no longer have the option to take advantage of userinfoStrega42's mad makeup skilz, and going in front of the camera without it I've figured out isn't wise, I ended up getting a bunch of sample base colors from Everyday Minerals (which is what seemed to be the most recommended makeup in the [livejournal.com profile] naturalliving community, and is also vegan, which I like). So, after wearing a different color makeup just about every day for almost a month, I've got it "narrowed" down to about 8 colors that I think are possibles for my skin tone (I'm wearing the last sample now - looks awful). Making the decision more difficult is the lighting in my apartment - two recent test colors looked fabulous in my apartment (with sucky lighting) and awful in the lighting at my client's house (with what I consider to be better lighting) and vice versa. So this isn't as easy as one might think.

Anyway, since I've been lucky enough to meet lots of lovely artsy people in Chambana, I'm hoping that one or more of them will offer to come and see me in the various colors that are possibles, and let me know which they think works best for me. So, obviously, someone really savvy about colors, and/or makeup in general, would be best.

Anyone willing/able to help me out, or know someone who might? Lord knows I've worn more makeup in the past month than I have in the past 10 years, so I'm thinkin' a second opinion would be REALLY helpful here.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I finally made it over to Studio Rex (no website to link to that I could find, but it's on 107 West Paces Ferry) to get my colors done. Remember that fad back in the late 80s-ish, where they tested your colors, to determine if you were a spring/summer/fall/winter? Well, apparently, it's new and improved. And since I've been all about new and improved lately (damn you Sona!), and Rex comes so highly recommended by people I respect, I had set aside some of my Christmas money for an appointment, and just made it in yesterday.

Aside from the fact that Rex is a character, let me tell you, and had both [personal profile] blckwngdorcl and I laughing frequently throughout the process, he was very informative.

I am, apparently, a hard case. I actually remember that when I had it done back in the day, the lady had had to get her supervisor to double check me, and they went back and forth for quite a while before they settled on me being a summer. In that same vein, back when I wore Prescriptives makeup, where they color-type you, I've had people try to re-type me because they thought I was typed wrong, only to go back to the original type I was given (yellow/orange, if I recall...). So, I'm difficult. (Who knew?) ;)

Rex had the same issues with me, and concluded that I was just on the cusp of being a spring/summer, but he classified me as a spring, and "organic". *winks at [personal profile] logomancer* He said my colors are all about the sky (although I'm not supposed to wear blue).

Bottom line is (since I'm running short on time to post this) that I'm supposed to be wearing winter white as my neutral color (no white or black), and NOTHING dark. My colors are mainly pale soft yellows and pinks, but I should do some pale green-blue/blue-green as contrasts. He showed me a few makeup tricks I didn't know (even though I don't wear makeup, I thought I was pretty familiar with all the tricks), and said that I shouldn't be wearing solid colors, nothing with sharp, defined lines or a pattern. No stripes, but Monet brushstrokes. Flowy, transparent, sparkling. Magical. I am the rainbow fairy of the color world, it would seem.

Not a bad outcome at all. I can totally live with that. :)

That bad news of the evening? Because I was typed incorrectly back in the day, I was told I should wear silver-tone jewelry. Not so, it would seem. Yellow gold, and a lot more of it - but BRUSHED yellow gold only, apparently.

Well, now I know what to ask for for Christmas...

Anyway, I need to hop in the shower. Murke has been acting like he's in pain, and I'm going to take him to the vet, along with Loco ([personal profile] lunenoire's cat), so they can both get checkups. Hopefully, that will turn out OK. Murke has already had pre-cancerous cells removed from his head, so I'm hoping it's nothing like that. Our best guess is that he's favoring his rear left leg, but we're not sure. *crosses fingers*

Anyway, wish us luck!
