I don't normally do birthday posts, and quite on purpose; I decided long ago that I wasn't nearly consistent enough to remember, follow through, etc., and that rather than risk hurt feelings on the part(s) of those I didn't mention for whatever reason, I just wasn't gonna go there.
Today, though, I make an exception.
Happy, Happy Birthday to the splendiferous popfiend!!!!!!
This is a guy who, in addition to, unlike myself, taking the time and effort to do birthday posts for others, always does so in such a thoughtful, individualized way that comes straight from the heart. He's known for his random drive-by spontaneous bursts of IM affection, usually so quickly one can't even respond to let him know how much he's loved and thought of, as well. His own posts are funny (who needs webcomics and the newspaper when you have popfiend??), informative (weblinks galore!), inspiring, thought-provoking, and kind; and sometimes they include voice posts that make you think he should have gone into media with his rich every-man voice, and video posts that make anyone realize he's beautiful not just on the inside - and his poignant willful ignorance of this reminds us of our own humanity, and our own unwillingness to see our own beauty - something he encourages his readers to do for themselves on at least a monthly basis, just in case we've forgotten.
So, to the guy with the great smile and the ready hug, who really DOES leave it better than he found it, every day...
Happy Birthday. Shine on.

Test post from my new phone, although apparently I can't read my friends page via this app. Bummer.
Somebody make a random comment to this so I can see what that does.
