Happy Labor Day/Obligatory DragonCon Post
Sep. 4th, 2006 10:47 amMuch better day today. :)
LuneNoire decided he was Con'ed out, so he gave me his badge. (May Allah bless his camel with many wives, or something like that.) So,
BlckwngdOrcl and I headed out this morning.
We stopped for breakfast first. We had planned on going to the Flying Biscuit, but on the way, we passed Java Jive, which I remembered from
Karlita's LJ posts, and I'd wanted to try it, so we hopped on in. Their coffee was teh yum, and guess what they had on the menu?! The evil concoction my father introduced to me as a child, which he said he'd gotten from a restaurant in Chicago. We didn't have a name for it - they called it the PB&J Goes to France - basically, it's a peanut butter and jelly sandwich dipped in French toast batter. They put powdered sugar on it, but I went ahead and added syrup like I've always done at home. They make it better than I do. :) Way cool that I actually found it in a restaurant, though! Very cool place. So not on my diet when I order that sort of food, but whodathunk they'd have had THAT?
Then off to the Con. I'm sure it wasn't as crowded today, for which I was very happy. I was mostly interested in the dealer and artists rooms. Couldn't afford anything, but oohed and ahhed a lot. When I win the lottery... We did get another thing of coffee from the Coffee Shop of Horrors. I mentioned to the guy that I'd been to the local store, and was way bummed that it wasn't creepy. He said they're opening up another store, either near Midtown or L5P, and they're working with Netherworld on the decorations for that one. The one now is in too straight-laced an area for that, he said. (Don't remember where it is... one of the ...villes, where
2syn used to(?) live...) Anyway, drooling for that one.
We were at this T-shirt place (where the beastie got an eye chart T-shirt with OMG, WFT, etc. on it), and I was admiring one of the Goddess t-shirts they had, and mentioned casually to him that it looked like something Kerri would draw. The lady overheard me, and said that it WAS Kerri's, and verified this with description and last name (which it took me forever to remember). I thought that was WAY fucking cool that her stuff is now on T-shirts!!! I remember her just sketching idly at PHP years ago, and how good her stuff was. I'm waiting for the t-shirt that asks about your masturbation habits - perfect for the Con! :) The lady said she saw her a while back, but we didn't run into her. We saw a few people we knew (whose names I don't feel like listing), did the huggy thing, wandered, lusted, etc..
We stopped at Kyoto Joe's on the way (sorta) home to grab a bite to eat. Very good food. We'll be going back. Now I'm off to do laundry (finish it - you should see my closet! - *glee*), and I've got less than 3 hours before I have to leave for David's.
*smooches*
