The Passion Within

Mel Gibson and his movie, The Passion of Christ, are hot topics these days. It seems everyone is talking and writing about them. Although I am interested in the movie phenomena I am frankly much more interested in the passion that resonates in us – our internal Christ.

I write not about Christianity, I write about love, and of the spirit that transcends religion. Jesus taught with and about passionate love which exceeds religion and dogma. We each have our own excitement, passion, energy, about – life, justice, politics, our kids, which is an outward expression of love. As human beings we also have our pain and deep torment. When we are in touch with our beauty, truth, and compassion we are in touch with the Christ that lives in us.

Christ’s greatest message and the one I want to remember and embrace, is His message of love, compassion, and our ability to heal. Virtually all miracles that were reportedly performed by Jesus were about healing others and taking care of others. Jesus said “Even greater miracles than these, ye shall do also.” And I suppose He would have suggested we start with healing ourselves. Christ brought the hope of living a full, passionate, joyful life to a dark time in history and currently to our personal dark times. As we learn to allow inside of us the energy and power of Love, and allow It to resonate with our Christ within, our darkness transforms and we will have more room for joy and wellness. It is in bringing the inner and the outer energies together that we can heal ourselves and later, help others heal.

Embodying the passion of the Christ Within is what Core Energetics teaches. It is in unifying our Core Energy with our physical body that brings passion to our daily existence. Unifying body and spirit here on earth within our own physical system is Core Energetics at it’s finest. Since we understand all of life through our bodies we must learn to experientially – physically—drop our masks, express our feelings, and grapple with our saboteur – our demons. We all struggle with our internal and external demons just as Christ did when he prayed alone in the garden that fateful night. Uncovering our demons through our human trials and in turn exposing our inner beauty is Core Energetics key to opening more fully to a passionate life with love as our foundation.

Core Energetics opens us to the power of love by transforming our negative feelings; enlivens our bodies by releasing muscular armoring; enlightens our minds by breaking up distorted ways of thinking and perceiving; and welcomes the full flow of energy to our physical form. Practicing Core Energetics teaches us about all the levels of our being. Among Core Energetics’ tools we use -- body work, movement, transformational breathing, therapeutic process, dance, meditation, energy work and prayer. In stripping away our defenses we will become fervent about life and will learn to give and receive love.

Let’s get on with our own journey in consciousness! (And quit talking about Mel’s) Choose yes, choose life! Focus on finding and transforming even the smallest dark stuff in ourselves. Excavate and transform every NO to the wonderful, holy flow of life that you hold onto because of fear. The 21st century is no longer a time to focus on darkness, pain and suffering. Now is the time to embrace life with the love and Passion of the Christ Within - our Core.

(Postscript: As a psychologist and grandmother, I say -- No one under 18 should see the Mel Gibson version of Christ’s Passion. Please think deeply before you see it yourself.)

Report on: Sexuality and Heart: The Art of Relating

February 20-23 were four dynamic days of deep Core Energetics work which created more energy and expanded consciousness. Walid Daw PhD, director of Core Energetics Institute of Switzerland worked with his vision of Core Energetics as a way to open to new places in ones self. With the deep work of Core Energetics, which bridges psychology & spirituality, through transformational breathing and exercises, participants had wonderful expansive experiences. This workshop was about being human in a joyful grounded way that transcended gender and sexuality. It was about life and living with more passion and grace.

Some workshop participants spoke about their experiences.

Marsha said that she and her husband Fred found new romance and deep intimacy that they haven’t felt since they’d first met…39 years ago. They have rekindled the Eros that belongs in every marriage but we so often lose after a few years.

Jim said that he understands better what Core Energetics is about. It is about opening up to the bliss of living with pleasure.

Elizabeth, (Jim’s wife) said “Wow”!

Wow indeed. And there’s more. Next February we will offer two workshops on Sexuality and Heart. One will be offering the first in a series of three workshops to new people or those who wish to take it again. The other will be for those that participated in this last workshop and will be a continuation of the work.

Dates: the last two weekends in Feb 05.
