I'm catching up on computer things today, and as a result, I'm posting all the pictures of the apartment I took recently, among a few others.

This will basically be a counter-clockwise tour through our apartment, starting at the door, which I'll label 6pm... our bedroom is 12n/mn... so the first pic is what you'd see if you came in, turned to your right, and faced that wall.

This is the breakfront that I got from my grandpa when he died. I've got all my Warsaw Cut Glass on it. To the right of that is our freezer where we keep all our local, humanely-raised, properly fed (that means grass, if they're cows), etc. meats.

This is the dining room table that userinfoDai_Syn got us. There's not enough space in the apartment, sadly, to actually use it to eat on (or game on, which was the original purpose of the table), but it's a nice table. You'll see in both previous pictures the newspapers I have yet to read. I'm planning on switching to online versions to reduce clutter/waste (although I donate the used papers to a local cat charity).

Kitchen - You can see the refrigerator, stove, and counters/cupboards.

Same thing, slightly different view

The straight-on view of the kitchen. The door leads to the laundry room.

The aformentioned laundry room. Basic setup. I have to say, they did a good job picking out good appliances. They must have figured that college students would overload them, and decided to opt for the good ones rather than have to repair them all the time. Since I tend to overload, too, this is a good thing. :)

This is a view of the kitchen that you'd see if you were looking at it from the living room. There either wasn't a way to get a good view of the sink (which is on the other side of the bar), or it was full of dishes or something the day I took the pictures... or both. I don't feel like taking another picture. You'll have to live without knowing what it looks like. :)

The hallway, with our bedroom at the end of it. (The apartment complex calls this "Bedroom C".)

The master bathroom, which is immediately to the right when you walk in the bedroom. Don't remember why I didn't take a pic of the sink... I do remember it was clean that day... but it's basic, and looks pretty much like the other sinks you'll see later.

userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's dresser, and the closet. I had to cull about 5 garbage bags worth of clothes to get everything to fit into the closet. I no longer lament the loss of my walk-in closets, but I definitely think they're the way to go. Incidentally, the cats can open the closet and get in there. I'll have a better pic of this later.

My dresser, in a little alcove area to the left of the closet.

The bed. This room isn't designed for a king-size bed, so it's a tight fit. Not sure it comes out well, since it's all navy blue. I prefer more contrast, but they discontinued the bedroom set I used to have, which was blue and gold, to match the celestial theme. It was completely worn out. So, between some creative use of exchanges and very little cash, I couldn't pass up the bargain on this set. And, while my mother was right, and it does capture pretty much all the dust and cat hair in the room, it's VELVET, and I adore velvet. Besides, with Silver graciously supplying himself as contrast, it all works out. (Incidentally, I'm also fond of satin sheets, but I had to quit using those when I got married... userinfoBlckwngdOrcl can't handle how it feels against his feet and he won't wear socks to bed. To be fair, I vetoed his choice of flannel sheets, and we agreed on your basic sheets like the rest of the world has - also navy blue, in this case.

The window and the desk. We can't keep anything on the desk, 'cause when the bed is unmade, the comforter and pillows go there.

userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's office, first thing on the left... this is a temporary shelf. He'll eventually have the same shelves I have in mine, but they'll match his desk.

The left corner of userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's office.

userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's office window, with desk. From the angle he sits at his main desk (next pic), he's got a great view of the pool, complete with bikini-clad co-eds when the weather is nice.

My beloved husband in his natural environment. :) For some reason, there's no pic of his closet... probably because that's the small messy area of his room.

userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's office bathroom. It's kinda boring right now. He's figured out how he wants to decorate it (science-y), but we haven't prioritized spending the money on that yet. His bathroom was the victim of moving into an apartment with one more bathroom than we had decor for... he didn't want the fishy stuff I have in my office bathroom.

Some of the aforementioned fishy stuff, in my office bathroom.

More of the same. In both office bathrooms, there are litterboxes in the showers... which is why we DID prioritize a shower curtain in both bathrooms.

This is a picture of the closet in my office before everything got unpacked. If you look in the reflection, you can see the mess in the background. This picture, of course, is meant to highlight my cats' skills at getting into closets. Since this is the de facto linen closet, it's a favorite, especially for Whimsy (foreground) and her brother Smithers (background).

My main desk. As a matter of necessity, my office is arranged as a mirror image of userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's. I had actually wanted my desk in the opposite corner... but the outlets demanded it be here. As a result, my view from my window isn't nearly as interesting. (It pretty much matches the view to the right of the balcony, which you'll see later.)

My secondary (paperwork) desk. Silver is, of course, gracing us with his presence.

My upright shelf. This is still a work in progress, since it might someday have actual books and/or knick-knacks. At this point, both shelves have all the stuff that finally got unpacked... they're organized by type and are no longer cluttering the floor, and I'll be happy with that status quo for a while.

My horizontal shelf. Same shelf, actually... just oriented differently. These are the same shelves userinfoBlckwngdOrcl will eventually get in black, and he'll probably set them up the same way. For comparison, this is about the same view that you can see reflected in the picture of the cats in the closet. BIG improvement.

Opposite view of the hallway, from the offices/bedroom, facing the entry door.

The living room. At this point, we're back in the front of the apartment, with the kitchen to the right.

The other shelf in the living room... the two shelves flank the TV, which sits on top of my hope chest, in case that's not obvious from the pics.

The living room couch. I've slightly deviated from the tour, here... this is directly opposite from the shelves/TV. If you stand such that the couch is on your left and the shelves on your right (your back is to the kitchen), then you're facing the balcony.

This is the center view of the balcony. Not sure how well you can see the sundial, which was a gift from userinfoBlckwngdOrcl when he worked at Pike Nursery. The inscription says "Grow Old Along With Me, The Best Is Yet To Be". Also, above that, you can (hopefully) see the heart lights (which I can never say without thinking of that damn song) that are strung along the balcony. I was gonna change 'em with the seasons, but when I was promptly thwarted in March by not being able to find shamrock lights locally, and again in April by not being able to find egg or bunny lights... well, we've both kinda grown attached to the hearts.

The left side of the balcony. That's my chair. The little alcove there doesn't have much purpose, other than we didn't have anywhere else to put those tables, and they matched what was out there already....

The right side of the balcony, with userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's chair. When we say we're drinking coffee on the balcony, this is it. Usually there's a cat or two to keep us company.

Looking out over the balcony, to the right. You can see the side of the clubhouse, and some of the local businesses. This is pretty much the view I have from my office window. Interestingly enough, in every place we lived in Atlanta, our view was always pretty wooded and remote. So, in a weird way, the view from our balcony shows more of a "metro" view than we had in Atlanta. The farthest building you can see in the distance in the mall - well within walking range, along with several other big-box stores, that we hardly ever shop at. But... Barnes and Noble! (And a Borders within walking distance in a different direction that doesn't show on any of the pictures.)

Panning to the left on the balcony. This is pretty much the head-on view. Clubhouse to the right, pool in the center.

Farther left on the balcony. More pool, and grilling area. This is pretty much userinfoBlckwngdOrcl's office window view. Lucky bastard.

Farthest left view from the balcony. This is the volleyball court I mentioned in a recent Facebook post.

Well, there ya have it! I have some more pics to post of other things, but the Beastie is awake now, and we're gonna shower and have breakfast.

Till later!

Yes! You are, in fact, on my list of computer-related things to get accomplished today.

Computer-related, of course, because having my definitive big-picture schedule involves computer time. :)

eMail forthcoming!

IKEA! These are the ones I got, but of course they have lots more. It involves a trip to Chicago, though... or about $250 to have it shipped. Hence why we chose driving as the better option. :)
