Got my paycheck from CareMasters today, and did some grocery shopping. In a rare coup for me, I kicked ass on what I got. In fact, I was able to get everything on my list (except for two things I couldn't find) and then some, for under budget. Very pleased. The two things I couldn't find were things for making stuff out of the "lotions and potions" section of the Curly Girl book (which I still need to return to userinfoSpy_Isis), so it's not like it was a great loss. I now have the ingredients to make a vegan cake, if I get around to feeling so inclined. Go, me!

Also, the Whole Foods I went into was having a book sale - everything on the table for $1 apiece. I picked up New Bach Flower Body Maps and The Bach Flower Remedies (the link on that one isn't exact... it's the same book, except mine also includes "The Bach Remedies Repertory", which I can't find a link to). I also got The Ultimate Breastfeeding Book of Answers. Also, via FreeCycle, I'm picking up some books on FreeBirthing. The Bach books will certainly help with the animal stuff - they're part of the class. The other ones, I don't have a need for yet, and may never, but I've always been interested in giving birth at home, and when I do get around to reading LJ (which is rare again, sadly), so many people are aware of even more birthing options than I'd ever been aware of, so I'm happy to keep those books as a part of my library. I haven't 100% resigned myself to being childless in this lifetime, even if it is likely. (userinfoIsarma, is that a good breastfeeding book?)

In the process of writing this entry, I did a hair scrub with whipped cream (supposed to be a good exfoliator, which I don't really need, but I had some that was going bad, so I thought that would at least make use of it, and I'm currently sitting with my head wrapped, with a mixture of avocado, honey, and almond oil in my hair - said to be a "moisturizing hair treat". This is so fucking cool. The Beastie, upon seeing my slimy green hair, asked why I was doing it, and I told him it was because I could, and that he should be doing it, too. I finally have the ingredients, and I'm very happy to use them. I need to wait for the bananas I bought today to get overripe; then I'm going to try the banana/carrot juice/almond oil concoction, likely next weekend.

Still need to put gas in the car, but I'll do that when I leave the house for work later. Need to work on animal communication stuff, and figure out when I'm heading over to [livejournal.com profile] ngtflyer's place. (Rose Quoll used to have a lego man icon, which was perfect for him, but sadly, she took it down. Ditto the rose that was also perfect for my two LJ friends with "rose" in their names.)

Anyway, that's my day! :)

Anything by Dr. Jack Newman about breastfeeding is awesome. I have that book, actually. Which freebirthing books? I don't have any that are total freebirthing books, except Mango Mama's.

If you're willing, I might want to borrow those. I've already got a fairly decent reading list, but if one of 'em is particularly good...

OK, sorry to take so long. I got:

The Natural Pregnancy Book
Childbirth at its Best
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
Spiritual Midwifery
Magical Child

You can borrow them whenever you like. I won't be needing them anytime soon. :)

I've never heard of the second one, but I have all the others. They're definitely not freebirthing books, so I'm wondering why they were billed that way. Good books, just not about that. I'm reading Ina May now.

She didn't, actually. I think she may have said home birthing, and I jumped to conclusions. I keep forgetting there's a difference. :)

Oh, and they're not freebirthing books at all, but if you're looking for good reading on birthing choices:
A Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
This one is about hospital birth, but is a really educational read, either way. It goes into different options, why and why not, etc.
Anything by Ina May.
