As planned, today was spent at the bookstore, doing the bookstore date thing. The Beastie read any number of comic books while I read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Three more to go before I'm ready for book seven. He's bookstored out, but I might go tomorrow and read Goblet of Fire. Sadly, I noted that this particular branch of Barnes and Noble (Edgewood) doesn't have a single copy of Order of the Phoenix (except in boxed sets), and only paperback copies of Half-Blood Prince. When I'm using bookstores as my own personal library, I strongly prefer to read hardcovers. I'm very careful when I read books I have every intention of putting back on the shelf, but things can happen, and hardcovers are just sturdier, and I'm less likely to fuck 'em up. Especially ones as big and unwieldy as the Harry Potter books.
So, anyway, I figure everybody and their brother is doing the same thing I am, re-reading the first six books before the next one comes out, but if anyone wants to lend me the last two, that would be cool. I might just as likely go find another bookstore to meet that need, but let's face it, we're talking several hours each to read Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, so having a copy to take home would be much preferable. I'll check the library, of course, but I don't count on them having a copy with the next one coming out so soon.
I've enjoyed my days off immensely. It's good to do nothing, even when "nothing" has been interspersed with me actually making myself useful. :)

Date: 2007-07-07 05:19 pm (UTC)If it's possible, could I borrow all of them? Now that the last book is coming out and he can read all of them at once,
Let me know if you need them back soon, in case you do plan on re-reading them (or perhaps you already have?).
I'm free all day today, and, although I'm kinda loathe to leave the house, I could meet you somewhere. I'm anxious to get to the next one today, and I've ruled out the bookstore.
Thank you!!!!
