So, um, yeah... In my current personal life upheaval, I forgot to make the LJ post about my foot and finger.

Apparently, neither of them are broken. The foot only *looked* broken in the x-ray from my PCP, because it was at a weird angle. They took LOTS of different angles at Resurgens. And the finger just plain wasn't broken. Motherfucker's still sore, though, but much better.

The foot/ankle problem is, as I had originally thought, arthritis. Osteoarthritis, which I'm glad to know, 'cause it got diagnosed years ago with arthritis, but I could never remember which kind, and the treatments are different for each. So, now I know. (Osteoarthritis is also degenerative joint disease.) Anyway, apparently, I don't have much joint space in some areas, hence the pain. Surgery isn't really indicated, and the guy said that, even if it were, ankle surgery isn't particularly good yet. If the time comes in the future that I really need it, presumably the technology will be better, and it'll be worth the knife. So, he gave me a bunch of Celebrex... which, now that I think of it, I haven't taken, and don't even know where the samples are, or the prescription is.

Did I mention I don't do well with daily medications? Also why I haven't gotten around to filling my Topamax and Vytorin prescriptions, that I'm also supposed to be taking daily (or so). I'll, um... get around to it someday. It's only been a few months since I got those 'scripts.

So, anyway, that's the update on my medical condition.

In unrelated news, I got to meet the lovely [personal profile] beansidhe today. (Correct me on that animal if you don't like it...) She rocked. :) She's also actually seen [profile] fornorald in person recently, proving that he's not just an automated computer program who occassionally responds to IMs. :)

Anyway, yes, I still have serious posts to make, but I work lots, so I'll get to it later. For now, bed.

I'm a lion? Um... hmmm. I dunno. Do you have a cheetah? Or a kangaroo or a lemur? What are my options here? :-)

I am owie this morning, but not as owie as I was expecting. All is good. My shrieks of pain were all for the cause of beauty (wince).

Glad to hear you have no broken bones. I have read in the newspaper recently in a "Dear Dr. Gott" column that you can take 8 oz. of grape juice and 1 Tbs. of Certo, which is a fruit pectin used in making jello, daily and it will help with arthritis. This man said his uncle had been on Celebrex for a while with no help, but after being on the grape juice and Certo for some months, he is feeling better and is able to come off of the medicine. Dr. Gott has talked about taking this combination in his column a quite a few times now. It will not interact with other meds or medical conditions. It's worth trying I guess. I got some, but neither my husband nor I have started taking it yet.

Also I was wondering what you were on the Topamax for? I have tried that two different times for weight loss, but it makes me so sick on my stomach and nervous that I can't take it. I heard that it's a good drug for some people to lose weight, even though that's not what it was originally inteded for. I hope it doesn't make you sick for whatever reason you are taking it for. I haven't heard you say you have seizures, so I assume it's for your weight or nerves or something; so if it's not for the weight, then that's an added bonus for you. Get those things filled!!!

Love,

Lucy

Meant To Say Jelly, NOT Jello

I meant to say jelly, not jello. Although it may be used in that too. You can find this in the canning supply section in the grocery stores. I don't know if you can used the no-named brands or not. I just got the Certo because that's what he said use.

Actually, it was prescribed for migraines. He did mention the weight loss would be a bonus, though. I haven't taken it enough to know if I have weird reactions to it. I'll look up that other remedy, though. Sounds cool.
