Just EWWWWWWWWW.....
Dec. 19th, 2005 06:10 pmOK, so in the process of moving some boxes around to fix this place up, I found that a corner of our apartment had flooded a bit. Not enough to make it so wet that we'd notice (there were boxes sitting on top of the area that soaked most of it up), but just enough to create a corner full of mold, and fucking mushrooms growing out of my fucking CARPET. I can't imagine much more icky than that.
Not to mention that I'm ridiculously allergic to that sort of thing, and it's not like it's good for ANYONE.
Just fucking EWWWWW...

Date: 2005-12-20 03:36 pm (UTC)Seriously, you may need a professional to come in.
This guide (http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/emd/envhealth/mold.html) says:
There will be a significant difference in the approach used for a small mold problem – total area affected is less than 10 ft– and a large contamination problem – more than 100 ft. In the case of a relatively small area, the clean-up can be handled by the homeowner or maintenance staff, using personal protective equipment (see below).
BUT you need stuff like a respirator and have to do all kinds of drying, cleaning, disinfecting...so...uhh...hire someone.
