"Someone just caught me on fire." -- [personal profile] blckwngdorcl

(He was playing City of Heroes, but I thought it was a good quote.)

Anyway, tonight was Sona's Christmas party, so we went to that for a couple of hours, 'cause I had to work with my client tonight. (I could have asked off, but I like him, and I needed the money after so many months of not working with him.) The party was appetizer-like stuff (since I don't feel like looking up the correct spelling for the correct French term - no one needs to put it comments - I'm just being lazy) and desserty-like stuff (with this pyramid-looking dessert that everyone loved), and coffee and an open bar. Everyone cleans up pretty good. :) They had a little speech thing, and raffled off some door prizes (I didn't win anything, but I had already won a trip a long time ago. I just haven't redeemed it yet.) They were also raffling off these kickass new products we have for the skin room.

(Note: Since I had to open another tab to get the hyperlink for the trip thing, I went ahead and did the dictionary.com thing. It's hors d'oeuvre.)

Anyway, after that, we went to my client's, where I found he was mostly done already, so I didn't have to do much.

Other Sona-related stuff...

I am currently in fallout phase subsequent to my laser treatment on the Friday before Thanksgiving, so I've got the celebrated "Sona Smooth" goin' on. I'm totally in love. I keep stroking myself in all the smooth places. ;)

Also, strangely enough for a Saturday, since there was only one consultant all day, there was actually a point where all the nurses were just kinda hanging out, so I asked one of my co-workers who has specialized in the skin rejuvenation room if the "laser" (it's actually IPL - intense pulsed light) really works on rosacea. She said that she hasn't seen very good results personally with it, but she also said that she thought what I had on my cheeks was veins, not rosacea. Furthermore, she said that one of my co-workers training in that procedure needed practice. There'd been a new rule passed down that we can't treat each other during working hours, but training is OK. :) Anyway, we went back and she (well, the aforementioned co-worker needing the training) zapped the veins in my cheeks. Interestingly enough, THIS "laser" really DOES feel like the website says the other laser feels - like a rubber-band snap. No big deal at all. I mean, startling, and bright, even with my eyes covered, but way doable. Not like the other laser, for which I either feel damn near nothing, or, in the case of the bikini, excruciating pain. So, anyway, I can already totally tell a difference. Some swelling still, but nothing atrocious. I went to the Christmas party tonight, and no one even noticed. So, this oughta be interesting. I'm gonna get myself trained in the skin room after the holidays, I think. Go in on my day off and sit in on treatments and such.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of my job. I think that (as all things are) my fears are as much, if not more (and it's almost always more) about my internal state than the external state of the company, and everything else. I've decided to just do my job, do it well, do it with love, and let go of the fear. Things will happen as they were meant to happen. And, hopefully, I'll be able to keep that mindset in the face of adversity, and when I'm in a different mindset than tonight.

Anyway, speaking of mindsets, I'm going to follow this up with one of the post-Thanksgiving posts that's been kicking around in my head, but I haven't previously been in the mood to put to "paper".

Stay tuned. :)

Oh, wow... I didn't know there was a Sona open there. I know Bill and Alyx, the owners of the Sona I work at, have rights to open some franchises in Florida, but I haven't heard that they have yet, so I'm guessing this must be owned by someone else.

Yeah, free training and treatments kick ass. I wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. I'd suggest you apply there, but Sona only hires nurses for the laser. You might try consultant or front office coordinator, though. ALL employees get free treatment. ;)
