If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort,
and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house, says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall.

And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, 'cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang.

When the copy on your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk, and the macro code instructions is causing unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM, and then quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your Mom!

Hi Neil,

I don't know if you'd be interested in this but I remember that you were acquainted with Douglas Adams who wrote for the original version of this show. Dr Who is back! http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2003/09/26/nwho26.xml&sSheet=/news/2003/09/26/ixhome.html
Also, on a slightly different note, I'm making an Endless Dinner where all the parts of the meal are based in some way on one of those characters. When I am done, would you like pictures and/or the recipes?

Good news about the Doctor.

And that would be fun. (I believe the Deadly Nightshade Creme Brulee is de rigeur for the Death Course, although some prefer the Arsenic Surprise.)

Having put the flea-killer stuff on all the cats (except Ashira... I figure it's too traumatic to catch her to do that, and hopefully if the other cats are protected, and she never goes outside, she'll be OK) yesterday, I took Neg outside today. He's really very good about it. It only took a couple of times being outside for him to learn the rules - no getting too close to the fence, and no going under the house, deck, or shed. So, I spent some time outside with him. Murke came out for a while, too, but, being more dense (in more ways than one!) I had to take him back inside shortly thereafter for going underneath the deck. Loki came outside, and promptly meowed at the door to get back in. :)

I've known for a while that there was a gray cat that frequents the backyard. I've caught a couple of glimpses of him, hiding in the bushes near where Rocky (the owner/landlord's cat) is buried, and running away from near the picnic table once when I took Neg out, but I've never really gotten a good look at him. Today, however, he came in the fence while I had Neg out, and walked cautiously towards Neg, which brought him within 10-20 feet of me. They never actually touched, and there was much hissing and growling, mostly from Neg, but he stood his ground, for the most part, backing away slowly. So, I got to see him pretty well. He's definitely male, and he's not a solid gray, like Murke is - almost a brindle along his sides, without being a tortoiseshell. He has a perpetually cranky look on his face, and he's pretty thin. I feel kinda guilty about this, 'cause I've meant to put food out for him since I found out he was out there. There's also another cat that I saw near him the first time, that appears to be tiger-striped, like Neg. Anyway, I tried to talk gently to the cat, and let him know that, as far as I was concerned, he was welcome, and tried to project friendliness in his general direction. I did put food out for him, finally, and saw him eating it about 10 minutes ago, so I'm happy about that.

I'll need to come up with something to call him, of course. Naming gray cats is very difficult for me, 'cause I refuse to name them something obvious like Smoky or Shadow. Took me a very long time to come up with a name for Murke (so-named for the definition n : an atmosphere in which visibility is reduced because of a cloud of some substance [syn: fog, fogginess, murkiness] v : make dark, dim, or gloomy). Anyway, I'll think of something.

[livejournal.com profile] simplysakka not only washed the dishes as promised this morning, but cleaned the whole fucking kitchen. It looks awesome. Thanks, babe. :) She also made coffee before she left, with instructions to leave it on for her, so she could have a cup when she gets home. If we drink it all, I can always make more. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] nightmarezangel was here with her yesterday, and made yummy dinner. Something I can't remember the name of, but was kinda like bruscetta (sp?). I felt her out a bit more, as requested, and didn't get the same vibes as before, so I know [livejournal.com profile] simplysakka will be very happy about that. :)

[livejournal.com profile] liljuice is in seventh heaven with his guest-now-girlfriend Diheshia (Eshia). She seems very nice, if a little shy. Although most people are shy around our house - we tend to be a bit ...overwhelming. All in all, though, she's handling us pretty well - he warned her ahead of time, of course. ;) They come out every once in a while, but for the most part, they've been holed up in his bedroom with what I'm sure is my ever-decreasing box of condoms. Perhaps you'd better add that to your shopping list, [livejournal.com profile] kapua23... ;)

Today is intended to be a day where I make lots of posts, including the one I've been putting off for weeks, so be prepared...

So, I'm at a swim meet, watching with [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl and [livejournal.com profile] tbrents. Not sure why we were there. To the best of my knowledge, none of us have any interest in that sort of thing in real life. That was actually pretty brief, and either it morphed into [livejournal.com profile] tbrents place, or we went there through some other means that I don't remember. Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl went downstairs to the computer room (which, in real life, is actually upstairs) to geek out, and [livejournal.com profile] tbrents and I were curled up on the couch, watching TV. The couch, incidentally, was opposite the fireplace, where, in real life, the armchair sits. So, we're snuggling and whatnot, and someone comes in. Kinda like a SWAT team, but with less noise and fanfare. Maybe more like FBI agents. [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl is still in the basement, completely oblivious to all this, while they're trying to haul [livejournal.com profile] tbrents and I away for reasons I'm not particularly clear on. It's all very quiet, with very little struggling on either of our parts, and very little pushing and shoving on theirs, but there was still a sense of being taken away, of confusion, of this-just-isn't-right. I don't really remember what happened after that.

The reason this dream strikes me as noteworthy, is because just a few nights ago, [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl had two dreams. In one, he and I were at a hotel with some people, and I had left the room to go do something, and when I came back, he said I was crying, and he realized I'd just been raped. In the second dream, I was at [livejournal.com profile] tbrents house, and we were otherwise occupied and some guy or guys came in and raped me before either of us knew what was happening. [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl said that in this dream, I got pregnant from it, and we went to court, and the guy got a very light sentence, and was pretty much gloating about the whole thing. (Correct me if I'm getting the details wrong, hon.)

Strangely enough, I'm having no fears related to going to [livejournal.com profile] tbrents house after all this, but it does make one wonder............ :)

And, actually, I think all this is the Universe's way of prodding me (as it has been continuously for WEEKS) to make the entry that I'm going to make shortly, after some probably useless background information on myself that I'm going to post to give people perspective on my own history with the subject (which isn't really the subject, but I have a feeling that's what people are going to focus on), and hopefully to minimize the number of people who are going to want to kick my ass after I make the post. Which, of course, is the real reason I haven't posted it yet to begin with.

So, might as well get on with it...

OK, I'm gonna step away from the computer for a little while. Partially to regroup, and partially 'cause I'm hungry.

Note to the wise: Lighting candles that happen to be situated under a smoke detector is Not A Good Idea.

By the way, not really in the mood to talk right now, so calling me on the phone won't work. I'll sign online in a little while.

I was at work the other night, talking to this other chick about her other job, working for the county. Somewhere during all this, I came to the realization that, as a nurse, I have a pretty kickass, and fairly unique opportunity. I can pretty much pick and choose jobs. And, having worked for the State of Illinois for 7 years, I know that having a government job is a good thing indeed. So, I went traipsing about in the phone book and found several job lines for city/county/federal jobs. It's in the blue pages. Take a look. Also, several of the phone numbers give you websites to check out. I'm adding them here, so everyone can take advantage.

Good luck!
