BitchSlapped by the Universe

Well, if anyone's been reading
simplysakka's LJ, you know by now that we (all 6 of us) are moving out of Harmony.
If you haven't been reading her LJ, well, now *you* know, too.
To make a long story short, we got so caught up in the excitement of
lunenoire moving in that we neglected to mention it to the landlords. When we realized our error, we (
simplysakka, who's always been the liason between us and the landlords, since she knew them) sent an email stating he was here, and we were looking forward to introducing him. (I don't have the email. It was worded better than that, with care taken to not assume anything and whatnot.)
Well, apparently, the landlords freaked.
They said
lunenoire needs to be gone by this weekend, and in addition, it seems like the whole issue opened this huge can of worms.
Now, granted, some of this is our fault. Some of the things they cite in their email (for instance, the lease says 5 cats, and there are 7 - well, 8, now, with
lunenoire's cat), are things that were wrong on the lease, we KNEW were wrong on the lease, and we had mentioned to them. At the time, when reminded the house had 7, not 5, cats, the landlords just shrugged it off. They said they knew that, and not to worry about it. Now, however, it's being brought up as a point of contention. Among other things. Some of the stuff of completely legit. Others (like the lease not matching reality) is legit from a legal standpoint. It's our own fault we didn't insist on the paperwork being changed to reflect the reality, so that all parties were protected. Our landlords were (presumably are) cool, and we trusted them to honor verbal agreements. Of course, we should have known better, as that rarely happens.
Keep in mind that their daughter lived in that house before they decided to rent it out, and she had lots of people moving in, too, and they did a lot of damage to the house. We hit a sore nerve by adding another person without permission. They did say that, had we told them ahead of time, all of this could have been avoided.
Anyway, they made several demands, including another $100 deposit per cat (we had already paid this when we moved in... they might be owed another $100 apiece for Meau and Loco, but my cats have been paid for), and such. Basically, we all came to the conclusion that this just wasn't going to work. We're all going to move out. The three of us and 7 cats, and the three of them and 1 cat will go our separate ways.
It's sad, and it's not.
I mean, yeah, sometimes things were crazy, and once we had become a triad, we REALLY REALLY wanted our own place. But we weren't financially prepared for it, so we were gonna wait. I, personally, have really wanted to move for a long time. (When Lynne did my astrology chart, she said that wasn't surprising, since I was in that transition right now.) But, again, we kept putting it off. Hell, we still owe our housemates money, and we wanted to at least pay that off first, since that was the main reason we moved in together. But, it seemed that the Universe was tired of giving us subtle hints, and just kicked us out.
Which, really, is OK... I mean, it's gonna SUCK find a place that will take 7 cats. I've called
karlita, and she's agreed to keep an eye out. She's always a good resource. :) We (mostly
lunenoire) are looking online and such, and we'll go driving soon, and try places we want. We'll figure something out.
Interestly enough, the Universe seems to have provided us with a bunch of tools for this transition. Last week, I had a client who was a realtor, a former nurse, and we spent a lot of time talking about how realty and nursing work well together (more like, she was educating me - it seems that 5 of the top 10 realtors in Georgia are nurses... who knew?). Anyway, I was telling her that we were looking to move in about a year and a half, and would she be willing to rent to someone with 7 cats, and she said she would. So, there's another potential contact. (I've already left a message on her voicemail.)
Also,
blckwngdorcl might have a job. Also, a very serendipitous way it happened...
Anyway, that's it for now. If anyone has any suggestions or whatnot, let us know.
I need to go. My ride is here. :)
