After seeing this post by [livejournal.com profile] spy_isis, I was inspired to write the following letter to the owners of the site:

********************************

I was directed to your website by a friend of mine, and was thrilled to see your compilation of the "Worst of the Week Clips Gallery". What a delightful service to those of us who have very busy lives and don't get a chance to see the more graphic television scenes on a regular basis! Thanks to your diligent surveillance and categorization, I can pick and choose from several exciting television scenes I wouldn't normally get to see!

Certainly, as you must have intended, it creates a wonderful medium for teaching children as well. For instance, the necrophilia scene from NBC's Medium is an excellent opportunity to explain to children that sex with dead persons is unethical, as a corpse cannot provide consent. And the clip from the interview with Ryan Murphy regarding a potential relaxation of censorship - pure gold! One can only hope for the best and most inclusive outcome for his goal.

Again, thank you for providing this service. I'll be passing your site along to my friends, as well!

I knew there was a reason I love you dear.. :) This is perfect. However, if we praise them too much they may go all modest and take down the wonderful clips.

I thought I was JUST ambiguous enough to leave them scratching their heads... but then, I'm not known for subtle, either... ;)

Tee Hee, that makes me happy! Although I hope they don't take down the clips, I plan on visiting it weekly since I don't have cable!

Most of that stuff is just common sense. "Life as we know it" is about teens and what do [most] teens love more than anything else? FUCKING. That's just common sense. South Park doesn't come on until 9:30 or 10:00 on weeknights, and when I was at the most impressionable age, I was asleep by 9. The people at Comedy Central PURPOSELY put South Park on later because of that! Many of the other shows are for teens and adults, not little kids, and some come on too late for little kids (especially Jay Leno).
It's good to know that people out there are mentally incapable of figuring out what is best for their children without consulting some site like this.
I think I might send them an e-mail. :)
Thanks for showing this to us!

PS: I love how they wrote about The Simpsons and warn that they "ridicule entreprenurs". Like the splendid idiot who created that site?

Every complaint they make is about shows depicting sex, but you never hear them complain about violence. On last week's episode of 24 bodies were dropping all over the place, the week before saw someone being tortured. I think this week's episode also contains torture and probably more bodies dropping like flies. I didn't notice this ever diligent group of people having a problem with that. In my household we let my stepson watch the sex scenes and keep violent programming off limits. I'd rather him see that sex is natural and normal and part of life than to think it's actually violence that's ok.
