Been meaning to make this post for a while, too.

Back in February, I decided to be a vegetarian. I did this for health reasons, and in a bit of a fervor after having read The Living Foods Lifestyle by Brenda Cobb (she's local). Anyway, I was really good with it for a while.

Let me make a few relevant points about this:

***Animals are lovely creatures, and in general, I prefer them not to be killed.

***On an intellectual level that hasn't reached fruition, I truly do believe that there is something to the thought that you shouldn't really eat something you aren't at least WILLING to kill yourself. I've never killed anything really edible (although I'm sure that's debatable in certain cultures).

***I read some research somewhere that fruits/vegetables scream when they're harvested. They used some sort of special equipment, and recorded it. There's also some sort of energy thing going on there. So, as a result, I don't think, in the grand scheme of things, it's any more or less moral to be a vegetarian. It's all life. There's death involved no matter what you do.

***I did it to be healthier. Period.

So, now, we're mostly broke all the time. I can't really afford to be all that picky in a house of meat-eaters. And, bottom line is, I really like the taste of meat. So, I've been maybe 50/50 on it lately.

Then there's the Atkins Diet. Don't get me wrong. I know enough about nutrition to know exactly why it works the way it does, and I do know that it's not necessarily the healthiest way to go about it. But, it works, on sound principles. And, yeah, I could do the same thing by eating a lot of eggs and cheese, but I don't really wanna go there. So, I'm still trying to decide if I wanna do something along those lines.

So, I guess I'm just thinking out loud here. What I really need is more EXERCISE. Bleh.

Exercise!

Girl so do I. Let me know if you want to walk or something together, may be worth the drive to get each other motivated.

God, girl, me too. I've so wanted to get back in the gym. And I need to get off my ass and get the gaming room cleaned out so that we can use the "exercise area" to our advantage. There are some days I come home so stressed out and I want to get that Wavemaster out and just beat the fucking heck out of it. But I know that it is buried in boxes. So that is a good motivation for me to get the hell in there and work. I am hoping that the 15th I can get a lot of that done. We have the HealthRider too, which works really well and is quite comfortable to use, as far as exercise equipment goes. And hell, if you really want to get out and walk the neighborhood, I'd be glad to do it with you in the evenings if we are both available. On an optimistic note, when our finances get better, which they are slowly but surely doing, I am going to start cooking more healthy meals in the evenings when I am home, and you are welcome to indulge with us if you so desire and are available. It isn't Atkins, or Sugar Busters, or anything of the sort, but it is a good round nutritious meal with meat and lots of green veggies and ALWAYS a salad. [livejournal.com profile] wyzard_vyrnahnn and I ate that way on our vacation, and my eating has gotten a lot better over the past three weeks, and I must say, I feel tremendous. Just a whole *hell* of a lot better. I have a protein shake in the mornings, a salad with some grilled chicken at lunch, and I usually snack on yogurt and celery sticks during the day, and drink a V-8 as well. In the evenings, I've not been as picky (jambalaya and ziti, you know) but I've noticed that I don't need a lot to satisfy me. So it all works, it just takes time.

Let me know if I can help out in any way, love.

I know what you mean.. I have been trying to keep with it as well but as finances get tough we need to do what we need to do. i think you are sexy the way you are. And for exercise I can definately help you out with that.. What about running the halls nude in the hotel those two days... Back and forth until at least one person opens their door. And do that for each of the 15 Floors i have at my hotel.. ;-)
