My illness has progressed to feeling Pretty Darn Good in the spaces in between where I cough up ugly-colored portions of lung, which happens about once every 10 minutes or so... And, whereas last night, strenuous activities like feeding the cats left me exhausted and panting asthmatic breaths on the couch, today I was able to make breakfast with only mild exhaustion afterwards. (Keep in mind that my typical pattern during any illness is to feel reasonably OK in the mornings, anyway...) So far no fever yet today, but it's been a while since I checked. *sticks thermometer in mouth* 98.5 orally. Which is actually a bit on the high side for me, especially this time of day. Stay tuned...

Anyway, today's random K'La factoid, in relation to the recent Superbowl.

I could care less about sports. Really. Unless they're pretty sports (gymnastics, figure skating, etc.) or involve animals (equestrian), at which point it's all about the oooshiny and not at all about the points or form.

So, I really could have cared less about who won the Superbowl. My congrats to those who cheered the Saints, my condolences to those who cheered the Colts. In theory, I should have been a Colts fan, since I grew up in Indiana, but I had moved away before the Colts (well, in the Indianapolis home, anyway) existed, so the default team-to-root-for in northern Indiana was Da Bears. Saw a few games when I was younger, and enjoyed them (like I enjoy just about any sport if I see it live... notsomuch on TV...), but wouldn't bother to seek it out on my own nowadays. I've checked the seen-a-pro-football-game-live and the seen-a-pro-baseball-game-live (as part of my job when I worked at Fox, I shit you not) things off my "things one should probably experience at least once in one's lifetime" list.

But, back to the random factoid. Even before I moved to Atlanta, I had a soft spot in my heart for the Atlanta Falcons. Why, you ask, would a small-town Indiana girl who doesn't even like sports like the Falcons?

Well, those of you my age might remember those pencils that were all the rage back in the day, that had all the NFL team names on them. Pretty much everyone in my class had a set, including myself (peer pressure, baby!). But, one day (and I think it was Valentine's Day), the boy who lived across the street from me, who I had a crush on for YEARS (pretty much the entire time I lived there) gave out these pencils as gifts. Everyone got one.

And, of course, the pencil I got from my little blonde blue-eyed godling was

...you guessed it...

The Atlanta Falcons
