MidMorning Ramblings
Jul. 17th, 2003 09:00 amI'm trying to get into the habit of posting more often again, even if it's not the meaty stuff I prefer. Or quizzes. ;)
Can't decide what to do today. I can either do the running around I need to do. For those terminally bored and/or nosy, that list is
Go to Life Grocery and get water for the water cooler. Must do this, because I have one of those water fountain things for the cats, and I refuse to use anything other than bottled water in it. Don't want buildup or deposits or shit like that.
Go to the bread outlet down the street and stock up.
Go pay (at least part of) the cable bill. Take back the cable box, if I can find the remote that goes with it. This is in Alpharetta, though. *sigh*
Go to the post office and mail out the paperwork, so my dad can co-sign for us to have a mattress. Right now,
liljuice is sleeping on couch cushions on the floor, 'cause we're still using his mattress. He's cool like that. :) Anyway, we can afford the monthly payments, but they won't extend us credit, so we need a cosigner. We're getting this kickass king size mattress. Always wanted one of those. Be good for us and the 7(!) cats, and anyone else we care to invite into the bed. ;) Will also make just about no room in our bedroom. That's one of my very few complaints about this house.
Go drop off medicine to
profundis. Must do this towards the end, 'cause I'm sure we'll get caught up talking. Ask him to pretty please make us another copy of Oracle Samedi, 'cause the altar accidentally got knocked over yesterday. (I didn't do it!) Rum does not wipe off the picture, and in fact, wipes the color off the pic if you try. Oops. Ask him about the latest project I tasked him with.
Optional tasks:
Go to the mall to do the following:
JCPenney: Trade the shoes that my mother bought
blckwngdorcl for ones that fit. Hey, he wasn't there. We did the best we could. :)
Life Uniform: Get another pair of scrubs that fit. I have 4-5 pairs that are 2 sizes too big, and they look like shit on me. Something bright. Purple, or red, maybe a cobalt blue.
One of those stores that do picture framing: Frame the pics
profundis made us, so we can hang 'em, not to mention protect them. For those who don't know his work... (WARNING: SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT) http://www.fx-arcane.com.
Go to this mailbox store that's nearby. Our mailbox is rusted, boring, and ugly. I've always thought that (some of) those custom mailboxes were cool. Gonna see just what kind of interesting mailboxes are available, and scope prices, since I haven't the foggiest fucking idea how much a mailbox costs. Doubt I'll get one today, but just wanna take a looksee.
My other option is to stay home and work on stuff around the house. That list is
Unpack the last box in the bedroom. This would include things like hanging pictures, lights, and other decorative stuff. This would do even more for making it obvious that our bedroom is supposed to be a celestial theme.
This would leave one more box in there, which is full of videotapes. I finally took the VCR over to
blyssmouse the other day, so now they're of no use to me. I was gonna give the Disney/kid stuff to Declan, but I think I'll donate the entire box to "lj user="jupitercornwall"> and
isarma, if they want it. Guys? Of course, a trip to their house would actually fall under my first list. And would also have to be at a time when I had time, so I could do the visit thing. But not today. Today is full.
Clean the fucking kitchen. The kitchen has never actually been clean since we moved in. We've tried. Most of the problem has been that there are lots of dishes to wash. I hate washing dishes, and the dishwasher runs VERY slowly. Not to mention we're trying to be nice to each other, and work dishwasher/laundry stuff around showers, so people can take hot ones, so we're limited. Kind of a pain in the ass. On the bright side, I made my first eBay purchase (I don't count my wedding dress, since that was all handled via email) and got a baker's rack, so all my Lenox stuff that was taking up too much counter space is now neatly arranged and out of the way. If I can just get ALL the dishes washed (might have to do them by hand... gasp), then that would make a huge major difference. Maybe put some, if not all, of
simplysakka's stuff away, but I'd probably be too tired after that.
Unpack the boxes in the garage - put everything where it goes, if I'm feeling really ambitious.
Repack all the stuff that goes into storage. This includes all the stuff from Glenn's and my bedroom (the green and purple bedroom, which we'll reinstate in a few years when we get our own place again) and bathroom (ditto on colors and intention), and all the Christmas and Halloween decorations.
Put the givaway stuff in boxes. Hauling it out to the nearest thrift store technically goes on the first list, but again, not something I'm looking at doing today.
Gather up all the OPs stuff (term coined by
waterfall_sh - Other People's Shit) and at least put it in the car. Make plans to deliver it. Again, something for the first list, and not to do today.
Find the Windows XP CD. Yes, boys and girls, it just so happens that one of my housemates procured 5 licensed copies of XP, so we're all upgrading. *hangs head in shame* I'm caving, man. It's sad. I have no excuse, other than my previous rantings about how I couldn't turn Jeff in for piracy since I did it myself all the time, and how I thought it would be karmically correct for me to get licensed, or get open source software (Linux!!!). I never got around to getting Linux, and I already know Windows, and the licensed copies (however they were obtained... heh heh heh) meet my criteria. Anyway,
wyzard_vyrnahnn has been looking for the CD, so I need to find it for him, and we all suspect I was the last one who had it.
On paper, that second list doesn't look like a lot, but trust me, it IS.
Of course, none of this stuff includes phone calls I have to make to various places (an auto glass company to get an estimate on
blckwngdorcl's window, my payroll company to ask why they aren't distributing my money like I told them to and to change my address, the new place I work to figure out when I start, just to name the few that come to the top of my head.
Also, I'm trying to leave guilt behind and socialize more, which I actually think I've been doing a pretty good job of, for me. If you're reading this, don't be surprised if I invite myself over someday. :) Also, must go have coffee with Tim. Many things I want to discuss with him - clear the air and all that.
As a subset of this, there are quite a few people I'd like to get together with for dates of various kinds. I believe I'm ready to jump into the poly pool again, try some things out. Ought to be fun. :)
Wow, I've killed a whole hour doing this, and not doing any of those things on my list! Of course, I'm also chatting with
spy_isis, so it's taking longer. But still...
Anyway, I'm gonna be a bum for a little while longer, and probably go get started on the first list. Have to get that stuff done during business hours, doncha know!

Too funny that we might actually *share* an OSO...
