So, I did get my ass out to the bookstore and started on Goblet of Fire. Had the bookstore closed at 11pm, as I thought it did, I would have finished it, too. Sadly, when they gave the 30-minute warning, I knew there was no way in hell, and I was right at the end of a chapter, so I just closed up. Dammit.
It would seem I'm right in the middle of totally obsessing about the books, just like I was when I read them the first time. Don't wanna put 'em down, don't wanna do anything else. Luckily, I've been pretty productive around the house (besides putting the laundry away, and I've been putting that off for at least a week now), so it's not like I'm leaving much behind or anything, but still... I half-suspect that was part of the reason for my sleeplessness last night. Of course, even if I spend all day tomorrow reading, which I'm sorely tempted to do, I'll only finish Order of the Phoenix, and I'll have to wait till next weekend to get to Half-Blood Prince. Oh, the agony. I won't have the time or the money on Wednesday to see the next movie, but I will on Friday - the Beastie and I already have plans to see it as early as possible on Friday. (By the way,
journiey, I'd love to go to the showing you're going to see, but I'm working at that time - plus, I figure not all your friends would be interested in seeing me. I'm way jealous you get to see it so early!) I got home from the bookstore, and was flipping through channels as I was grabbing a bite to eat, and caught the end of Chamber of Secrets, and ended up trying to order Goblet of Fire On-Demand, but it turns out there's some sort of system-wide issue with Comcast, which will get fixed within 24 hours. But dammit, it's not feeding my current addiction!
Anyway, in addition to bookstore goodness, something way cool happened while I was there. Someone came up as I was reading, and called my name, and I turned around. I was confused a bit for a minute - I knew I recognized her, but I couldn't place her. Turns out, it was
vyviane! I totally hadn't seen her in like 5 years! Turns out she'd been reading
fey_touched's Friends page, and saw that I was going to be there, so while she was there, she kinda looked around for me. Way fucking cool! I got to catch up with her, and meet her husband and baby (neither of which I'd known existed), and it was awesome.
So, w00t for that.
This doesn't change the fact that I'm still obsessed, and not a Harry Potter book in sight.
Grrrrr!!!!!
