Fuck...

I keep reading all these posts about the Decomp... and they keep talking about it being ...tomorrow??? I'm looking at my Google Calendar, and it's not on there anywhere! And considering that's what I use to keep my life in order....

FUCK. I *KNOW* I put it in there... like WEEKS ago.

And Kathleen just asked me today (er, Friday, I guess it's technically tomorrow already...) if I was working Saturday... I told her yes, that I didn't have any plans.

OK....

A - This is like second time that I *know* of that my calendar has lost something... and I've suspected others, but I wasn't positive about those....

B - I don't believe in coincidences. There's part of me that's scared to take the plunge into an actual Burner event, and I can't help but think that there's some connection.

So...

Those of you on my friendslist that are going... I'm assuming this thing lasts all fucking night, and me getting there after midnight isn't an issue? 'Cause otherwise I have to decide between the two... and I'd rather not have to cancel either. (Well, I'd love to cancel work, but geez, now I've committed myself.)

Halp!

THE RULES:

Step One

- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.

Step Two

- Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. You an also check out this post http://fabricdragon.livejournal.com/127623.html because she lists lots of charities you can give or craft for for the holidays. There's also a LJ group [info]holiday_wishes where folks post lists like this) And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - ([info]onceupon notes: shelter dogs and rescues are really the way to go, though) do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

And I hope you will let me know where your wishes are, if you make a list of your own!

(These are in no particular order...)

#Counter Culture Coffee - not horribly picky about what kind - all their stuff is fantastic

# Cat Genie

# Gift Certificate to Phoenix and Dragon

# Take me out for coffee and/or vegetarian-friendly food

# Recharge on my Starbucks card, #6026 1813 5519 6555

# Absinthe - preferably the real kind; website is merely an example

# Gift certificate to some office supply-type store, for these (in purple, of course)

# Cloth Menstrual Pads from here, in that color

# Just about anything from here, or anything snow leopard-related

# A FUCKING FULL-TIME JOB!!!

I have a theory for why I keep losing stuff on my calendar...

Updates on Firefox... including beta...

Does this sound plausible, for all you techies on my list?

Kefir

OK, so I picked up some gen-u-ine kefir grains the other day, and am now making my own kefir. It's TOTALLY different than what I've bought in the store, but I like the sharp, sour taste, personally (in small doses, of course). The thing that's kindasorta a problem, though, is that the grains grow... like VERY fast. So, I'm gonna have more than I know what to do with pretty quick.

If anyone's interested in making some of their own, I'll have some grains to give away pretty soon. Let me know if you want any.
