My phone sucks. It's never been a particularly good phone. I usually blamed it on switching from AT&T's digital service to Cingular's satellite service (even though I'm not entirely sure that even that description of the services is accurate - no one at Cingular has corrected me when I've lamented about it in those terms), but [personal profile] blckwngdorcl had the exact same service, and the exact same phone, and never had any problems with his. In fact, I was told by one of the dudes at Cingular a while back that my phone was likely fucked, and I should trade it in. I procrastinated, however, and I think I'm past the year deadline to trade it in. But, anyway, my phone has died the great death. It comes on for just long enough to say "Hello Moto" and pop up a Cingular screen, then goes off again. It's charged, so that's not it. So, anyway, I'm not gonna be available by phone until I get a new one. This should happen sometime next week, as I get paid on Wednesday. ([personal profile] simplysakka, I'm planning on paying $200 on the first, to cover January and February.) I have my eye on a few phones on the Cingular website. This one has some really cool features, but is a brand I've never used, and I'm not sure if my SIM card will transfer, this is a RAZR... ummm.. 'cause it's a RAZR... but Cingular doesn't carry the pink one, which I LUST after... plus, y'know, unnecessarily expensive, and this one, which is just a step above the same phone I have. Anyone have any suggestions/comments?

Anyway, the point of this post being that, as far as phone service is concerned, I'm unavailable. You can try calling [personal profile] blckwngdorcl, if that works for you. If you know my number, his is the same, except with a 6 instead of a 7. Also, we finally got around to getting a land line. I don't mind posting the number here, 'cause, for one thing, we don't even have a phone hooked up to it. For another thing, I'm never going to answer it. This is the line I intend to use for outgoing calls during peak times during which I expect to be put on hold. Partially 'cause of minute usage on the cell phones, and partially 'cause my phone cuts out all the damn time, and there's little more frustrating than sitting on hold for 10 minutes, only to be cut off unceremoniously shortly after getting a real live person. This will also be the number I give to anyone that I don't really want to talk to. So... anyone who might become a bill collector later. If I ever get around to hooking a phone up to it, I'll at least set up the voicemail, so I can screen messages. In the meantime, if you're so inclined, the number is 404-528-5693. I think it is, anyway. I remember it spelled KAT-KOZE, which I thought was ironic, but it could have also been CAT KOZE. I don't remember. Anyway, like I said, it doesn't matter, 'cause I won't answer, but there ya go. I'd look on my phone, where I have it programmed, but... as I mentioned, it's not working. So, there ya go. eMail and IM are still the best ways to reach me, and both can be found on my profile page. I'm pretty much always listed as away on my IMs, and most of the time, it's true. Sometimes, Trillian sets me as being here when I'm not, so don't be offended if I don't answer that, either.

Ummmm... basically, I'm an uncommunicative bitch like that.

There are quite a few things going on internally lately, not all of which I'm ready to share yet... partially 'cause I'm not ready to share yet, and partially 'cause I'm just not in that mindset. Y'know, the one where I suddenly make a shitload of quasi-meaningful and insightful posts, and use up your friends page? Yeah, that mindset. Anyway, not there.

Oh... further FYI. Starting on 02/01/2006, my schedule (for Sona) will be as follows:

Sunday: Sona Closed
Monday: Off Work
Tuesday: 9:00am - 8:00pm
Wednesday: Off Work
Thursday: 9:00am - 8:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am - 4:00pm

For [livejournal.com profile] beansidhe, this means I won't be there Wednesday, which sucks, 'cause I really wanted to meet you. Dammit. I'd come in, anyway, but I made a shitload of other plans... Reschedule if you like, otherwise we'll get together later. Sorry to miss you. :(

Anyway, that's it. Till later!

My cats have expressed a clear preference, not only for the Cat Attract litter I found, but for dog litter boxes (there's really nothing on the page that goes to the dog litter boxes, but you can see a picture). They're much bigger than normal cat litter boxes, and they aren't covered, which the cats seem to like. I finally got around to getting enough for the whole house, so, as a result, I have 3 litter boxes to give away.

One is your basic normal-sizes covered litter box, which looks basically like this. The other is one of those silver dome-looking booda boxes, very similar tothis, but with a side entrance, and the other is a Litter Robot, in black. There's nothing wrong with any of them, it's just that my cats don't really like them. The Litter Robot is a little fussy, and probably needs a good cleaning to make it work 100% properly, but what I always did was unplug it and replug it (either at the wall, or on the unit itself) once a day, and it would cycle through. I think it would work perfectly with the cleaning, though, and it's still better than scooping.

Anyway, let me know if you want them, and are willing to pick them up. I might consider delivering, but I'm basically lazy, so don't hold your breath. :) We live by Emory. If I don't get any results, I'll cross-post this to [livejournal.com profile] atlanta, but I thought I'd give my friends list first shot at 'em.

This probably surprises no one...

Maybe you could...

You scored 18% Cold and 61% Level-Headed!

In a pinch, you could do it, but you'd need a damn good reason to. And you're not going to be too happy afterward.

My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
free online datingfree online dating
You scored higher than 3% on Cold

You scored higher than 52% on Level-Headed

I finally got around to reading this article, which I *think* I got from [profile] thinkmonkey.

For the most part, I agree with the article. Faith isn't based on reason, and actions based on faith aren't based on reason, either. (They might ALSO follow the basis of reason, but if faith is your primary motivation for an action, then it's merely a happy coincidence that reason agrees. A faithful person, in my experience, will often discard reason in favor of faith.) I can even agree that acting on faith, in the end, allows one to act without justification. (Or, at least, any justification other than the faith itself, and whatever belief system goes with it, whether personal or canon.)

But faith as a moral failing? I can't see that. I mean... there's no justification for morality, either, in my book. Morality is as ambiguous as faith. Doing something (or not doing something) because it's moral or immoral is as flimsy as doing something on faith. I'm thinking one's morals are based on one's faith, anyway. I would think that if you were to take an atheist, who doesn't ascribe to any particular faith, and ask him/her about morals, they couldn't give you a reason why one particular thing was amoral and another wasn't. Even in the absence of faith, morals are arbitrary. We just decide what sets off our "wrong" meters (conscience, if you will), and what doesn't, and act accordingly. I'm guessing that's a form of faith in itself. Faith in one's self to be able to discern "right" and "wrong", using something as "arbitrary" as gut feelings.

Unless you do the kinesiology thing. Then you're into a whole different ballgame, which is possibly scientifically validatable.

Anyway, just pondering. Feel free to jump in.
