Egads.

Y'all are a bunch of prolific motherfuckers.

I've spent about 3 hours today JUST keeping up with today's entries. I totally can't keep this up. Even though I've got some free time now, I won't always have THIS much. So, in spite of [livejournal.com profile] envoy's opinion about culling one's Friends list (rather than just altering the default view page), I am, actually, going to cull my Friends list.

No one should take this personally, and it certainly isn't meant as such. I will, however, give you a few of my criteria, so that people understand why they were culled or not culled.

I pretty much use LJ (from the reader's viewpoint) to keep up with the lives of friends I don't often get to interact with, or simply to be nosy in the lives of interesting people I don't know in real life. So, while doing the latter can be fun, it doesn't serve any particular useful purpose, so I'm going to drop everybody I don't know in real life. I'm also going to drop people I've met once or twice, but don't expect to have much other contact with. Again, practical over personal.

For readers of my LJ, this doesn't mean a thing. All my posts are public posts. I've never made a filtered post of any kind, and don't intend to, so any of you taken off the Friends list won't miss anything. This, if I could venture a guess, would be [livejournal.com profile] envoy's main problem with culling Friends this way. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.) At any rate, if anyone who gets culled really wants me to keep him/her on my list, just let me know. You don't need a reason - this isn't a popularity contest or anything like that, just let me know. Similarly, I won't be offended if anyone culls me in response to this (although I will be bummed if that means I'm not able to read extra-juicy posts).

Anyway, love to all, and hopefully this will mean I can keep up with my Friends page better!

P.S. Is it just me, or is the drop-down menu for "Screened Comments" new? I don't know what default mode is, so I set it to "none", which I hope means that no comments are screened. I don't screen comments any more than I screen myself. Anyway, I might look it up later, unless one of you saves me the trouble. :)
