Well, [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl and I had a good anniversary. :) At [livejournal.com profile] walkingbear's insistence, we had sex. That was a good idea he had. ;)

We woke up, and were going to go to Christos, where we had our first date, but they were closed on Sunday, so we went to Anthony's instead. We were both starving, and we just wanted to grab something pretty cheap.

So, anyway, from there we went to the World of Coke. It was pretty cool. I'd been there once before, a long time ago, but he never had. word of advice: Do not try the Bitter Apertif. :)

After that, we still weren't hungry, so we went to the Undergroundfor a while. Saw a couple of tarot readers and thought of [livejournal.com profile] elorie. We wandered the shops for a bit, saw some of the sights. There was this massage thing I tried. It looked kinda like a tanning bed, and you laid in it face-down, and they closed it over you. There were these waterjets in the lid that went up and down your body. Picture someone putting a tarp over you and spraying you rhythmically with a high-powered hose. I think this was it. It was OK. Could have been a lot more water pressure, and it kinda tickled a bit.

After this, we walked over to the Hard Rock Cafe. Neither of us had ever been there. It wasn't all that. The food was decent and (predictably) overpriced. The atmosphere was OK. I think I was expecting something more like that restaurant in Pulp Fiction. In fact, we ran out of money there. Apparently, we weren't paying enough attention to what we were getting, and even though we had enough for the food, the waitress got an undeservedly shitty tip.

Which left us with zero cash. Which made me wonder how we were gonna get out of the parking garage if they didn't take credit/debit cards. We had to turn down a couple of people asking for money (I usually give something if asked, and am even more likely to now, after reading [livejournal.com profile] being_homeless' journal. Anyway, about 50 feet from the parking garage, [livejournal.com profile] blckwngdorcl says, "We're going to get out of the parking garage." I asked him how he knew that, and he said that he suddenly remembered that when I'd done that hydromassage thing, he'd taken the $10 in change and put it in his pocket rather than his wallet. So, yay us. We thanked the gods appropriately, and had interesting discussions about the nature of the gods that show themselves to him and how it might relate to what he sees behind his eyes and recent happenings in that area. (See his LJ for more details.) So, we got out of there with $7 to spare. We didn't feel like going home, so we only stopped there briefly and went to hang out at Barnes and Noble. They closed much earlier than we expected, so we were only there a very short time. I went to bed for a while, then woke up, and ... well, here I am. But, I thought I'd put something about our day. :)

Been meaning to make this post for a while, too.

Back in February, I decided to be a vegetarian. I did this for health reasons, and in a bit of a fervor after having read The Living Foods Lifestyle by Brenda Cobb (she's local). Anyway, I was really good with it for a while.

Let me make a few relevant points about this:

***Animals are lovely creatures, and in general, I prefer them not to be killed.

***On an intellectual level that hasn't reached fruition, I truly do believe that there is something to the thought that you shouldn't really eat something you aren't at least WILLING to kill yourself. I've never killed anything really edible (although I'm sure that's debatable in certain cultures).

***I read some research somewhere that fruits/vegetables scream when they're harvested. They used some sort of special equipment, and recorded it. There's also some sort of energy thing going on there. So, as a result, I don't think, in the grand scheme of things, it's any more or less moral to be a vegetarian. It's all life. There's death involved no matter what you do.

***I did it to be healthier. Period.

So, now, we're mostly broke all the time. I can't really afford to be all that picky in a house of meat-eaters. And, bottom line is, I really like the taste of meat. So, I've been maybe 50/50 on it lately.

Then there's the Atkins Diet. Don't get me wrong. I know enough about nutrition to know exactly why it works the way it does, and I do know that it's not necessarily the healthiest way to go about it. But, it works, on sound principles. And, yeah, I could do the same thing by eating a lot of eggs and cheese, but I don't really wanna go there. So, I'm still trying to decide if I wanna do something along those lines.

So, I guess I'm just thinking out loud here. What I really need is more EXERCISE. Bleh.
