I only remember bits of this dream. Seems that
blckwngdorcl and I had a house, or were staying at one, or somesuch. I think the house was haunted, but this section of the dream is pretty fuzzy. Anyway, I leave, to go to this next town. I'm not quite sure why I did this. I either did it because there had been some tragedy there, and I either wanted to see it, or I thought it would shed some light on the haunting of the house we were staying, or I wanted to go there for some more nebulous reason, and I found out about the tragedy there on the way.
Seems like on the way, I saw this other house, with people on the porch. They were either ghosts themselves, or they were mourning for someone who had passed. They were on rocking chairs, and were pretty nonresponsive, staring out into space with an almost eerie look on their faces. Also, on the way, seems like I saw a wreck, or heard about one on the radio. Somehow, there were kids involved in all this; I think some had gotten killed. Also, seems like there was some disaster in the town itself - a fire in a major building or something like that. I'm not sure if all these things had happened, or any combination of them, but it seems like there was definitely an air of death and tragedy about.
So, I finally get to the town I was going to. All this was occurring at night, so it was dark. There were emergency vehicles about, although it was strangely quiet - no sirens, no people milling about, etc.. I don't think it was foggy, but it was hard to see most things. I noticed this policeman in this open area. He was kinda by himself, and, in contrast to the haziness of the rest of the scene, he stood out clearly. He was your pretty stereotypical movie cop - nondescript white guy, a little overweight. He seemed very friendly, and came over to me and talked. I don't remember what was said, but I think it was something along the lines of that everything would be OK. He didn't say this in the usual placating way, but in a wise, knowing way, like he had access to some spiritual information that others didn't, and he was sharing it with me, 'cause he knew I'd get it. He was almost inappropriately cheerful, given the situation. There was something about him I couldn't quite place, but when I turned around for a second and turned back, he was gone. It was at this point that I started to entertain my suspicion that he wasn't exactly human. Then, he was there again. I don't know how to describe it. The scene had gone all foggy again, and I couldn't see him, although I could see other things around me. It was like he'd gone invisible. But I could feel him, and I could "see" him in my head, as me moved closer to me, laughing. I felt him wrap his arms around me, and he starting dancing with me. The dance was close and intimate, but bawdy and playful at the same time. The whole time, I couldn't see him with my eyes. What I "saw" in my head was images flickering of the cop I had seen earlier, and a man with a cane, laughing. I was enjoying his company in general, but at that point, I fully realized who he was (although I think I had suspected it before then). I was full of awe and happiness, and danced with him for a while before he left, or faded away. Not sure which. At this point, I left the town, with a sense that everything really was going to be fine, even if it was hard and/or confusing right now, and the dream ended.
This whole thing pleases me immensely. I've always been jealous that deity seems to visit
blckwngdorcl in his dreams, and this is my first experience with it. The fact that it was Baron Samedi, whom I've had a soft spot for ever since he shared dinner and wisdom with me back at Samhain, makes it even better - like getting to see a cherished friend you haven't had contact with in a while.
