What is Core Energetics Exactly?

Is Core Energetics Psychotherapy? A Spiritual Path? Body Work? Spiritual Healing? Counseling? Education?

Students and clients often ask. And the answer is both yes and no. Core Energetics is not only one of the abouve but all of these combined. And we continue to evolve.

I spent two weeks teaching Core Energetics to Italian and German Core students in Italy early July. I love teaching and had a wonderful time. Students were open, eager and fun. At night we danced -- and sang in at least three languages. The town of Frabosa Soprana, where the teaching took place, is in the mountains called the Sea Alps. Frabosa, small, quaint, lovely, clean and cool, was hard to leave.

Students had questions about what Core Energetics is. Europe is getting more organized about who can do what regarding counseling and psychotherapy, and as in the different states in the USA countries are creating rules regarding practice. Thus the eager interest in defining Core Energetics.

Core Energetics as our founder John C Pierrakos, MD, described it: "Core Energetics is education to inner reality." Core Energetics is education about our mask,-- the image of who we want others to think we are but we are not--our lower self , -- our wounded child self, our primal feelings and emotions and bottom line --our no to life; and to our Core, which is our Divine potential ,Higher Self.

Core Energetics is based the basic concept that the only reality present and ultimate is the state of LOVE.

Although Core Energetics certainly utilizes forms of psychology and psychiatry as well as more "modern" body psychotherapies, John Pierrakos called this "therapy" or a process of education: The Core Energetic Evolutionary Process.

We human beings constantly seek expansion of consciousness. Core Energetics takes on the task of assisting people grow in a multitude of ways working with all known levels of human existence. Our society has helped us fragment ourselves by compartmentalizing our process of learning and healing.

Educators are in charge of our mind, therapists conventionally deal with emotions, ministers with our spirit and physicians our body.

The conscious therapist must bridge these gaps and help people unify mind, body, emotions and spirit.

Even practitioners who include spirit in their work most often leave the importance of body unacknowledged.

Carl Jung said, "The spirit is the inner experience of the body."

Harmony of mind, body, emotions and spirit is essential to psychic peace. It is only in this state of balance that we can feel a sense of moral and personal integrity, of loving affiliation with others and of a connection to the divine.

Only by healing our wounds can we open to spirit.

Core Energetics is a philosophy of Life as well as a process of clearing away the obstacles to Inner Reality. This process is called Education. Its philosophy states that:

1; a person is a psychosomatic entity

2; the source of healing lies within self (Core)

3; all existence moves toward creative evolution.

Treatment:

** centers on the life force, not on seekers' wounds

** uses early life defense mechanism portrayed by the body for diagnosis and as a guide to therapy

**includes work on all levels of reality - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual

** can take a person from early therapy to more advanced forms of wellness.

Say Yes to Life!

Why not say Yes! to your life? Fully unconditionally Yes! John Pierrakos, MD said if there were such a thing as sin it would be that we do not use all the energy we are given to fully live. I say, God wants me to be as fully alive as fully Pam as I can be. And God wants you to be as fully you, as fully alive, as you can possibly be.

Life is being your genuine self. Your real self. Not the fake self that we all learned to pretend to be to somehow feel a distorted sort of safely.

A three day workshop, Say Yes to Life! is offered on Sept 3-5. The workshop begins on Friday evening at 7:30 and continues untill Sunday at 4:00 PM.

Join us! Learn to live more real, more alive, more of the time. Your life depends on it!

This will be a wonderful workshop for all. Those of you who want to begin, who are just beginning Core work and for those of you who have been working on yourselves for awhile. It is also for potential Core Energetics Training students.

More About Kicking! & Alexander Lowen"s Latest Book

Last issue I wrote about the benifits of kicking and how to kick.

Kicking moves energy. When you have that blasted stuck energy in your body that makes you anxious, depressed, fat, and seeing life from insde your distortions, kick!

KICK!

And kick some more!

Be sure to make sounds when you kick. Don't hold your breath.

Alexander Lowen, a big fan of kicking for all the 32 years I've known him, just came out with his autobiography. Oh yeah. This man at 94 is still cooking. He says he still uses the stool, (Bioenergetics version of the roller,) and kicks and does breathing exercises every day. Lowen says you can live a better longer life by living fully in your body. I am inspired!
