Not Really a Post...
Oct. 22nd, 2006 02:56 pmI was going to sit down today and maybe write some profound things, catch the world up on my emotional landscape and whatnot... And, while I'm mostly in that headspace, I'm a bit too restless to sit down and write about it. So, a quickie post on the house and some more mundane things, and I'm going to go off and do some more housekeeping stuff.
With a very few minor exceptions (haven't completely arranged the desk in the office like I like it, and
BlckwngdOrcl's computer isn't back yet, so nothing of his is set up quite right), the house is done, except for one room. I'll make that official when I get up (two things to do to make that happen), and that'll just leave one room.
Technically, that room is done to the degree that there is no furniture that goes in it (y'know, until I can get a couch), so nothing needs to be arranged or anything. It's just that all the little things that were never really categorized or put away properly to begin with is now piled in that room. Along with a shitload of comics that the Beastie is supposed to be going through. Sans the comics, which I'm putting elsewhere, the combined surface area of all the stuff is about 6x3x2 feet, which isn't much at all, really, especially compared to what it was.
I'll be perfectly happy to sorta put it aside, and work on it slowly. I'm back to my crazy work schedule again, so slowly is the key word here, and I still need some better storage bins and other alternatives, but I'll just make it a priority to pick something up with every paycheck, and go from there. This won't be hard, and I'm so pleased!
Also, thanks to
cloudwatcher, I have a lady in Pennsylvania willing to send me the other chair I need. W00t!!! That puts the room almost exactly like I want it. There are a couple more things I lust after, but they can wait (way more expensive). Luckily,
LuneNoire let us have his TV stand as a temporary loan, either until we get one of our own, or he gets a TV, so it's not a horribly pressing thing right now. I miss my old entertainment center. I can't remember what we did with it. I do know it was literally too big to bring down the stairs to this apartment, though, so we had to give it up. And, unlike my desk, which was surprisingly easy to disassemble and reassemble in the next room, this would NOT have been the case with the entertainment center. Anyway, I'm thrilled with the way the house is turning out. And Ikea kicks unbelievable ass. :)
Note to
Dai_Syn's gaming group - the house is available anytime for gaming. Still BYO chair, but way doable. :)
Anyway, that's pretty much the state of the union over here. Life is good, and looking up in many ways.
