OK, Now for a Real Update
Jun. 12th, 2005 02:52 pmWell, now that I've had a good dose of nostalgia about pets and husbands (of which there might be more later), I thought I'd kinda give everyone an update on the state of the union here.
blckwngdorcl and
lunenoire have, in fact, found an apartment. Our lease-signing date is the 15th (Wednesday! Eeep!), and we'll move in as we can after that.
We're moving into the Archstone Clifton apartments, near Emory. Turns out one of
fornorald's friends lives there. (Evan?) Anyway, they allowed us to move in with 7 (now 6) cats, under the condition that we pay an up-front, non-refundable deposit, which isn't so much a pet deposit as it is the full cost of replacing the carpet in the apartment; they're just assuming that, when we move out, they'll need to replace it. Which, yeah, I could see. Although it's a really great place, and since we're being up-front about the cats, and it's all in writing this time, I can see us living there indefinitely. Evan(?) has been living there for 10 years, it would seem. We ran into him at the office when we were finalizing things, and he said for us not to move into the particular apartment we were going to (right below him, incidentally), 'cause it flooded all the time. So, bonus. We're getting one that is in no danger that I know of from flooding. Although it's weird... I'm pretty sure, from what I remember, that we walk DOWN stairs to get to the apartment, but the deck is really a balcony, clearly at least one floor up. So it must be built into a hill or something, or else I'm just on crack.
The floor plan for the apartment is great, and huge. They had a loft version, which wasn't available until early July, which would have been problematic, and after looking at the big apartment, we fell in love with that, anyway. And after seeing that, the loft felt positively claustrophobic. Plus, after much hemming and hawing and confusion and such on our part, they really bent over backwards to make this work for us. I'll eventually email people I know who I think might be interested in the actual address. Our cell phone numbers will stay the same, but not sure about the house phone. Again, I'll letcha know.
Not sure what else I can say about the place. I'd better post this, and satisfy
simplysakka's curiosity. :)

Date: 2005-06-13 10:00 pm (UTC)We'll likely be there moving stuff every night this week. The attic and the garage still have large amounts of our stuff in it, as does my office.
