I Spoke Too Soon...
Feb. 3rd, 2005 06:04 amOK, so the feeling better in the morning thing (when I last posted) is apparently a function of Circadian rhythms rather than of actual wellness. A possibility I was aware of, but chose to ignore in lieu of hoping I was actually getting well.
*sigh* So much for that.
My temp climbed back to 102 yesterday, and my head felt like it was going to explode. I couldn't turn my head anywhere far from looking straight ahead, nor could I move my eyes from the same position without experiencing excruciating pain. I finally broke down and took 600mg of ibuprofen. I tend not to take any fever-reducers when I'm sick, simply because I know that fevers have a purpose, which is to kill whatever germ you have. So getting rid of your body's natural defenses isn't so much of a good thing. But when I'm in pain... well, it's unfortunate that every over-the-counter analgesic I know of also has anti-pyretic qualities.
Truth be told, though, it did make my horrible headache go away, and sent me into a ton of sweats as my body tried to re-regulate itself to the new temperature imposed by the drugs. I actually felt halfway decent last night. I know it's not indicative of being better, but it felt good while it lasted. I'm starting to get achy again.
I spoke to
waterfall_sh on the phone yesterday, and she said that her chiropractor told her there's something going around - a flu that doesn't present like flu, and that antibiotics won't help. Well, mine aren't helping, and I'm going back to the doctor today, and I'll make 'em take a culture this time. Although if it does turn out to be viral, I'm not looking forward to riding it out...
Anyway, this has all but drained me, and I need to go back to bed now.
